Affirmative Action Policies

On October 21, 2016, UFSCar approved its Policy on Affirmative Actions, Diversity and Equity, built throughout 2016 in a dialogic and participatory process that involved the community of the Institution's four campuses, under the coordination of the Secretariat for Affirmative Actions, Diversity and Equity (SAADE). In the end, the Policy was approved by the University Council by acclamation, in a historic session that had the participation of members of different organized groups who were present in its construction process.

UFSCar Graduate Council (CoPG) continued the discussions on affirmative action in graduate studies, which began in June 2016 following an ordinance on the subject published by the Ministry of Education in May. The Council approved the creation of a commission that systematized the initial contributions, carried out studies on the implications of affirmative actions (in terms, for example, of structural demands and promotion) and prepared guidelines for inducing specific actions that take into account the context of UFSCar and the autonomy of graduate programs. The commission's work took place throughout 2017. The draft was approved in 2021 and can be accessed at the Postgraduate Affirmative Action Policy link (external link).
